Mental care for woman who drowned two children

German, MunichAugsburg, Germany  - A Croatian-born woman who drowned two of her children in the family's bathtub was ordered into psychiatric care at a trial in Germany Thursday.

The woman, 36, had earlier described in court her delusion on the night of the February killings.

She imagined the family's block of flats in the southern German city of Augsburg was surrounded by soldiers and had felt an urge to save her children from a horrible death.

She filled the bath with water and drowned her daughter, 1, and son, 4 months. She then woke her husband and three older children and admitted the killing.

The court ruled she was psychotic and dismissed two manslaughter charges. dpa( )
