After Sonia Gandhi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has now targeted the young scion of the Gandhi family as the tussle between the Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party continues.

On Friday the administration of Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Science in Kanpur cancelled Rahul Gandhi’s scheduled interaction with students. When he reached the university auditorium at the scheduled time he found the doors locked. So he headed to the canteen where he was able to interact with hundreds of eager students.

The university authorities said that the meeting had been deferred because the attendance of students for the said meeting was low. However Congress leaders alleged that Mayawati was responsible for this incident.

“But Miss Mayawati will never be able to stop Rahul Gandhi from meeting the youth,” said Mrs. Rita Bahuguna Joshi, president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee.

“I don’t know why they (the UP government) is behaving this way with my family and the Congress. But they cannot stop us. We are here, and we will stay here,” Mr. Gandhi said. The All India Congress Committee general secretary said: “I will go anywhere for the people of UP, even jail!”
