Mass exodus continues from Pak tribal areas as forces pound militants’ hideouts
Peshawar, Nov 20 : Mass exodus of people continues from militancy-hit spots of the Mohmand Agency to safer places, amid security forces’ attacks on militants’ hideouts in different tribal areas.
Security forces targeted the militants’ positions in Qandaro, Dawaizai, Pandyalai and Michni areas with artillery, but report about casualties could not be confirmed due to dysfunctional communication system in these areas, The News quoted sources as saying.
The security forces also established checkpoints in Farsh Pul and Pandyalai Tehsil, while curfew was relaxed and Peshawar-Gandhab Road was opened for one-way traffic for five hours. All the government departments, including banks, Nadra, educational institutions, post-offices, passport offices and Baitul Maal remained closed due to curfew.
Also, security forces dropped pamphlets from the helicopters in different areas of Lakaro tehsil, urging the people to oust militants from their respective and cooperate with the government or else leave the area immediately.
Sources added that Masood, Gurbuz and Qandari tribesmen of Lakaro tehsil in Mohmand Agency were urged to expel the militants from their respective areas or else migrate to safer places. The political administration has confirmed the dropping of leaflets in Lakaro tehsil. (ANI)
