Maoists enforce shutdown in 3 Nepal districts to protest ‘secret arms imports’ from India

Nepal FlagKathmandu, Mar 25 : The Maoists on Tuesday enforced shutdown in three districts of Nepal to register their protest against a "clandestine imports of arms from India last night."

The shutdown was enforced in Rupandehi, Nawalpasari and Kapilvastu districts.

Main markets, educational institutions and highways were closed as the Maoist cadres staged angry protests in these districts.

The Maoists were angered by the "mysterious import of arms" by the police when the country is preparing for a crucial vote on April 10, nepalnews. com reported.

The cadres of the Maoist-aligned Young Communist League (YCL) led by Maoist central leaders Devendra Poudel and Bamdev Chhetri had seized the trucks on Monday night.

The trucks were coming via the Sunauli border point into Nepal.

Nepalese Home Minister Krishna Sitaula said the government would sort out the issue at central level. (ANI)
