Manoj Tiwary to replace Yuvraj Singh in the Indian Squad for 5th ODI

Yuvraj-SinghBCCI has announced that the left hand blaster batsman, Yuvraj Singh won't be there to join the Indian Cricket team for the fifth ODI against Sri Lanka, due to a finger injury.

Bengal's Manoj Tiwary has been included in the team as the replacement for the Yuvraj Singh, as BCCI found it irrelevant to arrange a player for the replacement by the flight.

Regarding the issue, the secretary of BCCI, Mr. N. Srinivasan said, "Due to the finger injury sustained earlier, Yuvraj Singh has been advised rest and therefore will not play in the fourth and fifth ODI matches against Sri Lanka."

Yuvraj Singh has played only the second match in the series in Cuttack, in which he scored 40 runs in 23 balls and enabled India to take a lead of 2-1 against Sri Lanka. He decided to field even in the injured condition and did well in bowling too.

Yuvraj Singh was suffering from flu since the ODI at Nagpur, which kept him away from playing the first two ODIs in the series. The youngster Virat Kohli was called in the team to replace Yuvraj Singh.

This was second injury for Yuvraj Singh this year, as he has been out of the team for six weeks earlier as well, after he injured his little finger of the right hand in the conventional training session at Johannesburg.

He participated in the seven ODIs against Australia in India before Sri Lankan team arrived. The left-handed batsman scored 128 runs with an average of 25.60 in the five innings he played in the series.

The replacement Manoj Tiwari will be playing second match against Sri Lanka as he played his first match against the same opponent in Sri Lanka in the year 2007.
