Manoj Tiwary to replace De Villiers in Delhi Daredevils T20 Squad
West Bengal's Manoj Tiwary will replace injured South African batsman AB de Villiers in the Delhi Daredevils squad for the upcoming Champions League Twenty20 tournament. The much awaited 12-team USD 6 million tournament will be played from October 8-23 in India.
De Villiers sustained back pain in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy and he has been ruled out of the Champions League T20 after doctors advised him to take rest for four to six weeks as reported by Cricket South Africa Medical Committee on Saturday.
23-year-old Tiwary has a brilliant domestic T20 record including 374 runs in the IPL at an impressive average of 34.00 and at a blistering strike rate of 119.87 in 17 matches he played. Tiwary is currently playing for Rest of India in a match against Mumbai in the Irani Cup.
Meanwhile, James Pattinson and Simon Keen will replace Damien Wright and Nathan Bracken in the Victorian Bushrangers and NSW Blues squads respectively. Wright will miss the tournament due to a calf strain while Bracken will undergo arthroscopic surgery in next week on his injured knee.
