Mani Ratnam Given Red Signal For Shooting In Kerala Forest
Mani Ratnam’s new venture was reportedly halted when the crew violated the norms specified by the Kerala Forest Department. The famous director who is currently shooting for the adaptation of epic ‘Ramayana’ in the jungles of Malayathur was stopped by the Forest Officials as the crew had constructed three temporary huts against the rules.
The film, which has been named as ‘Ravana’ will be bilingual as it will be released in Hindi as well as in Tamil. Five days shooting has already been done and there were twenty more days to go for completion of it but the team was forced to pack up as ecological balance of the area seemed to be threatened.
Krishnadev Prasad Sahu of the forest division said, "As per the rules they cannot erect any structure, these three huts had been constructed by them and that led to the cancellation of the permission."
The movie will showcase the real life couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai in the lead pair in Hindi while Vikram will play the role of a villain whereas in Tamil where Aish will be the heroine, Vikram will play her opposite.
While Mani Ratnam is holding talks with the forest department ensuring of no violation from now on and to let him resume his shoot, the department is firm on its stance. The Director who also planned to hold his shoot in the jungles of Sri Lanka cannot shift there due to the protests by the Tamil film industry against the genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka.
