Manchester City up to fourth after draw with Aston Villa

Former City captain Richard DunneLondon  - Manchester City moved up to fourth in the English Premier League on Monday night after they hit back to draw 1-1 at Aston Villa.

Former City captain Richard Dunne put Villa ahead on 15 minutes, but Craig Bellamy equalized midway through the second half.

City move above Arsenal and Liverpool into fourth place, five points behind leaders Chelsea but with a game in hand.

The visitors would have hoped to have taken all three points from the game after their impressive start to the season, but Mark Hughes' expensive side were behind with 15 minutes.

Former Liverpool full back Steven Warnock swung in a corner from the right and Dunne outjumped the City defence to head the opener.

City pressed for the equalizer immediately but it took them until the 67th minute to find it when Stephen Ireland and Emmanuel Adebayor combined for Bellamy to lash the ball home.

Both sides had chances to win it but Villa defended stoutly to secure a point, which moved them up to seventh.

"We had a few chances towards the end, I don't feel like we were holding out, but in the end both teams will be quite happy with the draw," Dunne said.

"It was quite surreal, scoring, it always seems to happen in football (against your old side).

"Not celebrating felt like the right thing to do today. Man City are a very good side who will challenge the top four this season so we did well."  dpa
