Director Shaji Kailash, who is making a sequel of director Sibi Malayil’s 1988 movie 'August 1', is scheduled to start shooting for the movie by this week end.

The original movie starred Mammootty, who played the lead role of a Crime Branch Detective named ‘Perumal’ (DSP). This officer fought against time to stop the looming murder attempt on the Kerala Chief Minister.

Mammootty will again don the role of the officer ‘Perumal’ in the sequel. The sequel, which has been titled 'August 15', will be shot entirely in the capital city, Thiruvananthapuram. Mammootty will shoot for an entire movie in this city after a long time.

M Mani will be producing the movie under the banner Aroma movies. The script of the sequel will be written by S N Swamy.

The original movie also had actors like Innocent, Jagadish, Janardanan, Lizy, Mammukoya, Poojappura Radhakrishnan, Jagathi Sreekumar, Sreenath, Sukumaran, K. P. A. C. Sunny, Kollam Thulasi and Urvashi in other important roles.

Mammootty was appreciated for his performance in the original movie as an investigative officer, so hopefully, he receives the same kind of response in the sequel too!
