Mamata Banerjee should speak Cyrus Mistry to resolve Singur land issue: says CPI (M) leader West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee should speak Tata Group's new chairman Cyrus Mistry to sort out the Singur land dispute, Senior CPI (M) leader Surjya Kanta Mishra said.

Mr. Mishra, the Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal Assembly, the change of guard at the Tata conglomerate provided the government with an opportunity to break the impasse over the automobile manufacturing facility in Singur district.

Speaking at a public rally at Polba, Mr. Mishra said, "She [Ms. Banerjee] was opposed to Ratan Tata. But now that Cyrus Mistry has taken charge, she can speak to him and resolve the matter."

Cyrus Mistry ascended to the top position at the $100-billion salt-to- software Tata conglomerate on December 28, succeeding Ratan Tata who stepped down 21 years after being selected successor the iconic JRD Tata in 1991.

The Opposition leader also questioned Trinamool Congress government's industrial policy that states the government would not acquire land for industry.

He alleged that the government has made all the land available for real estate agents. He further alleged that a chit fund company linked with the government had taken possession of thousands of acres of land during the
19-month rule of Trinamool Congress government.
