Mamata Adamant On Return Of 'Forcibly Acquired' Land

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has hardened its stand on land Mamata Adamant On Return Of 'Forcibly Acquired' Land acquisition issue by TATA motors. She warned that the authorities should not test the patience of people of the state. She is demanding the return of 400 acres acquired land from farmers.

Her statement came a day after Tata Motors managing director Ravi Kant expressed his commitment on its small car project in Singur. Ravi Kant said that company will complete the Singur project in any case.

Mamta said that company and state government is deceiving the poor farmers of state. She said that the car factory can be built on 600 acres of land. The intensions of company and state government are against the poor farmers. The company wants to use other 400 acres of land for other commercial purposes. She alleged that TATA wants to use this piece of land for building shopping malls and housing complexes.

However, the  Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee government is too committed to complete this project. State commerce and industries minister Nirupam Sen said that government will not allow disturbing the situation in the state by any party. Krishi Jami Raksha Committee (KJRC) has decided to hold a special meeting on Sunday to decide future course of action.
