Mamata accuses CPM workers of attacking her supportersSingur, Sept 3 : Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today alleged that CPI-M workers had attacked her supporters with weapons while they were on their way to the dharna site in Singur, where agitation is on over setting up of the TATA car plant for the smallest car "Nano".

"Such attacks on our party workers before talks begin in the presence of Governor G K Gandhi to resolve the issue are not appreciated," she said.

She further said that the police and the administration had already been informed about the incident.

"We want the police to take preventive action so that good sense prevails. Our dharna cannot be broken by force," she added.

Welcoming Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi''s intervention in the Singur issue, she appealed to the parties to be more ''positive'' in their approach towards the Singur crisis.

Speaking on TATA''s decision on suspension of work at Singur, she said that the decision to suspend work is a pressure tactic. She termed it as their internal matter.

Meanwhile, the state Chief Minister Buddadeb Bhattacharjee has urged the Governor to take initiative to resolve the crisis.

On Tuesday, TATA Motors said it was looking for alternate options to manufacture its small car "Nano" from company''s other plants.

A detailed plan to relocate the plant and machinery to an alternate site is under preparation, the company said it a statement.

The decision has been taken in order to ensure the safety of its employees and contract labour who have continued to violently obstructed from reporting to work, it added.

The project''s auto ancillary partners were also constrained to suspend the work in line with Tata Motors decision, it said. (ANI)
