Mahendra Singh Dhoni banned for two ODI’s

India-Sri-LankaSlow over-rate proved very disadvantageous for Indian team captain Mahindra Singh Dhoni as he has been banned for two one-day international matches.

He has been charged with the allegations of slow over-rate in a match played against Sri Lanka on Friday.

Match referee Jeff Crowe, according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has also penalized Indian players 40% of their match fees.

In a statement, BCCI said, "ICC match referee, Jeff Crowe, has imposed an immediate two-match suspension on Mahendra Singh Dhoni for slow over-rate after conducting a hearing last night."

Meanwhile, Virender Sehwag has been appointed captain for next two matches in the series against Sri Lanka to be held in Cuttack and Kolkata on 21 and 24 December.

Sri Lanka won the Nagpur match supports by significant contribution by Tillakaratne Dilshan. Indian players are likely to remain under pressure in the absence of Captain Dhoni, and need extra practice and efforts to win the series.
