Lost parrot talks its way home in Japan

Tokyo  - A parrot found its way home by reciting its name and owner's home address to people, media reports said Wednesday.

Police captured an African grey parrot in Chiba prefecture, neighbouring Tokyo, earlier this month and took it to a veterinary clinic.

Thanks to the owner's education, the parrot was able to recite its name and the owner's exact address, including the street number.

The clinic gave police the information the parrot had given and the bird was safely returned home to its owner, Yoshio Nakamura, almost two weeks after it was found.

"I was careless because it hardly flies," Kyodo News Agency quoted Nakamura as saying. "I had been teaching it such things as the address." (dpa)
