Livongo Health raises $20 million in Second-Round Funding

Last fall, Livongo Health, the diabetes management company, was launched. The company with the help of its investors including Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) and DFJ Ventures has been able to raise $20 million in second-round funding.

"With thousands of people now using Livongo for Diabetes, it's clear that the best way for people to manage chronic diseases like diabetes is to empower them with real-time, personalized information about their condition", said former Allscripts CEO Glen Tullman, who launched the company.

With the availability of information, care level improves; cost gets lessened and also helps people to live healthy life. The company said that it will use the funding to increase the deployment of its Livongo for Diabetes program for self-insured employers.

Tullman has thanked the investors and affirmed that they are very pleased to have the support of some of Silicon Valley's premier health care investors. The company's program has connected devices, a smart cloud and a virtual care team.

The device, In Touch, performs dual function, which is of glucometer and a pedometer and allow easy sharing of the data. The program also offers test scripts at no extra charge.

Beth Seidenberg, General Partner at KPCB, said the Livongo platform acts as a powerful disease management ecosystem. The program's ability to gather real-time biometric data, assess it in the cloud and instantly provide guidance and support to the user is great in diabetes management.

In digital health, Livongo Health has proved to be an important company. Lately, the company has signed agreements with many health care providers, including Mission Health System in Asheville, N. C., and employers including Office Depot.
