New Delhi  - A little-known group calling itself the Deccan Mujahideen on Thursday claimed reponsibility for the terrorist attacks on India's financial hub Mumbai that left at least 78 people dead, news reports said.

The virtually unknown group had sent email messages to news organizations claiming responsibility, NDTV television channel reported.

A group called the Indian Mujahideen claimed responsibility earlier this year for serial bomb attacks in the cities of Jaipur and Ahmedabad. (dpa)
