LinkedIn expects fourth quarter revenue to be between $415 and $420mThe world’s largest professional-networking site, LinkedIn Corphas said that it expects its revenue during the fourth quarter of the year to be between $415 million and $420 million.

The forecast is below analyst expectation of $438.9 million, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The Mountain View, California-based company said in a statement that its sales rose 56 per cent to $393 million during the third quarter of the year. LinkedIn’s biggest business, talent solutions unit recorded an increase of 62 per cent in sales to $224.7 million during the period.

The company is facing slowing growth in the subscription and advertising businesses. It is now aiming to attract new users and generate additional revenue from its 259 million members by improving its app for the mobile devices. The site’s total membership rose 38 per cent from 187 million a year earlier when the number of users had increased 43 per cent.

The shares of the company have risen more than five times since its IPO in May 2011. The shares have more than doubled this year so far. The stock gained 1.7 per cent to $247.14 at the close in New York but them fell 7.3 per cent to $229 in extended trading.
