Legrand Group acquires Numeric Power’s UPS businessThe Legrand Group of France has acquired the UPS (uninterrupted power system) business of Numeric Power Systems in a deal worth Rs. 806.44 crore.

Electrical equipment manufacturer, Numeric Power has already entered into an definitive agreement for the sale of its UPS business to Limoges, France-based _3.9 billion firm, Legrand.

The company ahs also announced its decision to sell its wholly owned subsidiary, Numeric Lanka Technologies to Indo-Asian Electric, which is a affiliate of Legrand in a speerate deal worth Rs. 9.36 crore. The board of numeric has already approved the sale of UPS business undertaking of Numeric Power System to a Singapore affiliate of Legrand France.

R. Chellappan, Managing Director, Numeric Power Systems has expressed confidence that Legrand will be able to boost growth of UPS business by providing more product bandwidth, expanding applications and making available the products in new markets.

Mr. Chellappan clarified that Numeric Power will continue to manage the UPS business for Legrand after the sale of unit. Meanwhile, Yves Martinez, Managing Director, Legrand India said that the company will continue to invest in Numeric as well as Legrand and Indo-Asian Switchgear brands. The company is also likely to launch new products and expand its global presence.
