Left parties in Bihar call for 12-hour shutdown on June 10

Bihar MapPatna, June 6 : The Left parties today announced to hold a 12-hour shutdown on June 10 in Bihar, to protest the hike in fuel prices.

A joint press release was issued here by the leaders of Bihar state committees of the Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), Forward Block, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Krantikari Manch and Revolutionary Socialist Party.

The shutdown is meant to pressurise the Centre to roll back the fuel prices hike and to rein in the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities.

The parties have appealed to the people to make the shutdown "a grand success."

The Union Government raised the price of petrol by Rs 5 a litre and that of diesel by Rs 3 a litre. The price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) also has been increased by Rs 50 a cylinder. Kerosene price has been left untouched.

Earlier, the Left parties in West Bengal, Kerala and Tripura had called for a 12-hour shutdown on May 5. (ANI)
