Lebanese army and UN forces discover rockets in southern Lebanon

Beirut  - Five rockets were found late Wednesday near Naqoura close to the southern Lebanon border with Israel, a Lebanese army statement said, adding that they were not primed.

The five 122mm rockets were found near the valley of Houmel, northeast of Naqoura, where the headquarters of the UN Interim Force in Southern Lebanon (UNIFIL) is located.

"The rockets were old and not set to be fired," the army statement said. The army and UNIFIL troops had started an investigation into the provenance of the rockets.

During Israel's recent military action against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, unidentified militants last month fired at least five Katyusha rockets into northern Israel, causing material damage. dpa
