Bogota  - At least 20 people died in northwestern Colombia early Tuesday after their bus hurtled down a ravine.

Rescue teams said the bus was carrying about 40 passengers. The accident took place in the town of Santa Ana, in the province of Choco, on the border with Panama.

The bus driver survived the crash and there were no immediate reports of the number of injured. Officials were still trying to ascertain the cause of the accident. (dpa)
