Leap Transit announces to suspend its Services

According to reports, private bus company Leap Transit has announced to suspend its operations. Earlier, the company received a cease and desist order because it lacked in having proper permits.

On Tuesday, the company, a luxury private bus company in San Francisco which transports passengers from the Marina District to downtown and back again, announced that its operations will be suspended until about the end of the week. The company stated that that the decision has been taken after receiving the cease and desist order from the California Public Utilities Commission.

The company posted on social networking site Facebook on Tuesday that it is currently considering a process to sort the permit issue with the state. According to the company, the shutdown order was due to official issues.

Leap Transit said, “We embarked on a fairly complex regulatory process nearly a year ago and we've cleared many hurdles along the way, including the unanimous approval of Leap's operating authority under the California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) in March”.

Leap Transit and its rival bus company Chariot focus on commuters traveling from different neighborhoods in the San Francisco to downtown. The company Leap Transit has positioned itself as an alternative to municipal busing system of the city.

While talking about the cease and desist order, spokeswoman of PUC Constance Gordon said that the company has currently stopped its operations, but it could resume its services when it will meet the requirements that are needed to operate.

Kyle Kirchhoff, founder of Leap Transit, did not disclose anything on the matter and even did not say when the company has planned to restart its operation. In Facebook post, the company stated that it has decided to stop service until it could clear the regulatory hurdle.
