Leander bags another big title

Leander-Paes-Cara-BlackLeander Paes was able to win yet another notable title, as at last, Sunday's Australian Open mixed doubles triumph aided him catch up with Mahesh Bhupathi's record of 11 Grand Slam crowns.

But as per Peas, helping Cara complete a Grand Slam in mixed doubles gave him the most satisfaction after he and Cara Black overpowered the unseeded Jaroslav Levinsky and Ekaterina Makarova 7-5, 6-3 in 68 minutes.

He explained, "She had won the other three and we had talked about the missing one during the course of this fortnight. She was a bit nervous at the start of the final."

Peas described Grand Slam No. 10 (2009 US Open men's doubles with Lukas Dlouhy) as very special, while the others were told to be mere numbers.

Peas said that the longevity factor and the consistency which he has acquired in more than 20 years, excites him more than the number count. The 36-year-old player has played 21 Grand Slam finals with different partners and under unreliable conditions.
