L&T in consortium with global firms bags orders worth Rs 3816 crore
Engineering & Construction major Larsen & Toubro (L&T), in consortium with global technology partners, has secured engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) orders worth Rs 3,816 crore from various clients in the metals industry. L&T has informed that the company in consortium with Outotec, GmbH of Germany and Paul Wurth, Italia has bagged EPC orders worth Rs 2,545 crore from Tata Steel for blast furnace works at its Jamshedpur site. L&T's portion is valued at Rs 1,578 crore. Further, the L&T-Outotec consortium has secured Rs 753 crore order from Steel Authority of India Ltd-Rourkela Steel Plant for construction works at their sinter plant. The project is scheduled to be completed in 30 months. L&T's portion in the contract is valued at Rs 588 crore. L&T has also bagged an order worth Rs 518 crore from Hindustan Zinc for 2.1 lakh TPA Leaching, Purification and Zinc Electrolysis plant on EPC basis, scheduled for commissioning in 17 months. Last month Indian Railways placed an order with L&T worth Rs 1,047.60-crore for setting up a cast steel wheel manufacturing plant at the Saran district of Bihar.
