KSLTA Backs AITA Move
All India Tennis Association has allowed private promoters to conduct ATP and WTA events in the country. The secretary of the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA), Mr. C.S. Sunder Raju welcomed the move of sports body.
He said that the move will encourage the young players and they can get more facilities of international standards from private investors.
However, he stressed the need to some monitoring measures for protecting the interests of the game. He said that the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association is in favor of ATP and the body is not happy to drag the name of association in this controversy.
Mr. C.S. Sunder Raju said that private promoters should think beyond the commercial aspects of game and provide good infrastructure and facilities for the successful completion of games.
He said that the international tennis would face all types of threats and does not support cancellation of the event on security grounds. Other sports events such as the World billiards championship and an India-Australia Test Series are scheduled in October in Banglore.
The Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) will fully support these events in the city.
