Kouchner rules out EU sanctions against Russia over Georgia
Paris - French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner Monday ruled out the possibility of European Union sanctions against Russia.
"We have avoided the worst, and a ceasefire has been effected, as well as a pull-out by Russian troops from Georgia," Kouchner told France-Inter radio on Monday.
French President Nicholas Sarkozy, as current EU President, has convened an emergency EU summit on the Caucasus conflict to take place on September 1 in Brussels.
"One must deal with the issue politically, as the moment demands," Kouchner explained. (dpa)
