Koirala, Nepal, Prachanda renew commitment to peaceful pollsKathmandu, Mar 31 : Nepalese Prime Minister and Nepali Congress president, Girija Prasad Koirala, Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal and Maoists chairman Prachanda on Monday assured that they would do their best for creating a fearless environment for the April 10 Constituent Assembly elections.

The renewed their commitment to peaceful polls during a meeting with Election Commission (EC) officials.

Koirala acknowledged that the situation was quite fragile and emphasised that all sides should exercise maximum restraint to conduct the polls peacefully.

Prachanda claimed that his party had adopted a policy not to engage in retaliatory actions during the election time.

UML general secretary Nepal said the EC should not only issue appeal statements, but should also take actions against violators of the code of conduct.

“They (Maoists combatant) should at least be prevented from coming out of the camps on the election day,” nepalnews. com quoted him, as saying. (ANI)
