Kejriwal accuses Delhi Police of breaking up his protest

Kejriwal accuses Delhi Police of breaking up his protestCivil society activist turned political leader, Arvind Kejriwal has accused the government of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Delhi Police of breaking up a scheduled protest against rising water bills.

Kejriwal wrote on his twitter account that the police officials arrived and removed the stage and the tent that was meant to host the protest. He has earlier said claimed that the government is working illegitimately with power distribution companies to impose large power bills on the customers by showing false figures and losses.

He accused Delhi government and the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission of conniving with power distribution companies including those owned by Anil Ambani and the Tata group. He pointed out that at the time of the privatisation, the government had promised that the bills would be reduced as the losses would be reduced.

The Aam Admi Party leader also blamed Sheila Dikshit for not following an order of the DERC to reduce power bills by about 23 per cent in 2010. He said that the then DERC chief Berjinder Singh was aiming to reduce power bills but the Dikshit government asked him to withhold the order.

The accusations against the government were laid just months before the upcoming elections in the national capital.
