Keane snatches draw for Tottenham with equalizer at Sunderland
London - Robbie Keane scored a dramatic late equalizer as Tottenham Hotspur salvaged a 1-1 draw at Sunderland in the English Premier League on Saturday.
In the only match of the day, an early goal by Kieran Richardson put the home side ahead, but Keane struck on 89 minutes to pinch a point for Harry Redknapp's side.
The two teams both moved up one place, to 12th and 13th, with Spurs ahead on goal difference - each of them just five points ahead of the relegation zone.
Sunderland took the lead on three minutes when Richardson burst through a static Tottenham defence to score with ease.
Darren Bent fired a great chance over the bar, while Djibril Cisse missed a couple of superb opportunities for Sunderland that would have made the margin of victory more comfortable.
And the home side's profligacy came back to haunt them in the dying minutes when, after Kenwyne Jones had an appeal for a penalty rejected, Spurs broke and Keane finished off with a well-taken half-volley to snatch a share of the points. (dpa)
