Kamal Nath to attend WEF meeting in DavosNew Delhi, Jan 24: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath will attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting, in Davos, Switzerland from January 28 to February 1.

The five-day WEF meeting will be attended by over 2,500 participants from 96 countries. The meeting assumes significance as more than 40 Heads of State and Government will be participating.

Business leaders from all sectors and from all regions will be represented. Other participants include heads of NGOs and labour leaders, social entrepreneurs and young global leaders.

Nath, during the WEF meeting, is scheduled to have several bilateral meetings with Australia, Germany, USA, EU, New Zealand, Brazil and Thailand among others.

A special session will be addressed by Wen Jiabao, Premier of the People''s Republic of China and Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister of Russian Federation on January 28.

Other important sessions include, "Managing Global Crisis"; "Defying the downturn: How Rapidly Developing Economies are Dealing"; "Enabling Trade: Threats and Opportunities" and "Reviving Global Economic Growth". A breakfast session on "Surviving the Meltdown and Brand India"; and "The Fight against Protectionism" is scheduled for January 31.

The meeting will be focussed on managing the current crisis and shaping the entire post-crisis agenda, from economic reforms to climate change.

The objective of the annual meeting 2009 is to catalyse a holistic and systematic approach to improve the state of the world in a manner that integrates all stakeholders of global society. (ANI)
