Kailash Mansarovar Yatra postponed to June 13

Kailash Mansarovar YatraSrinagar, May 20 : The Kailash Mansarovar yatra, which was scheduled from the first of next month, will now begin on June 13.

According to sources, the government has cancelled first batches of the yatra as the Chinese authorities have expressed their inability to receive the pilgrims before 21st of next month due to domestic reasons.

The government is making arrangements with the Chinese government to accommodate the pilgrims of the first two batches in later batch, sources added.

Located 18 miles south east of Mount Kailash (the mythological abode of Lord Shiva), the circular lake Mansarovar or Tso Rinpoche (Precious lake )is a part of the 64-mile circuit undertaken by pilgrims.

Bathing in the Lake, or even sprinkling water from it on one’s head is said to provide enormous spiritual benefit. Hindus making the trip are told to immerse themselves completely if they want to enter the celestial kingdom. (ANI)
