Jordan's king hopes Obama's election will speed up peace process
Amman - King Abdullah II of Jordan on Wednesday congratulated US president-elect Barak Obama and expressed readiness to cooperate with him to push forward peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, according to a royal court statement.
"We look forward to cooperation with the United States to re- establish peace and stability in the Middle East and resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state formula that guarantees the rights of all parties," the monarch said in a congratulatory cable to Obama.
The Jordanian leader also expressed hope for "bolstering ties between the two countries", the statement said. (dpa)
