Jamia To Have A Dental College In Campus Shortly!

Jamia_Millia_IslamiaNew Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia is all set to have a new dental college for its campus shortly. The Delhi Health Ministry has given “No Objection Certificate” to the university regarding that, and the Univ. is expected to commence the classes for a degree in Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the next academic year.

Jamia has got special grant of Rs.22 crore from the University Grants Commission (UGC) to construct the building for the new dental college.

The University will enroll 50 students and appoint 14 facilities teaching positions in various categories in the first year of its new BDS course. The Univ. has already started the recruitment for the non-teaching staff.

Jamia spokesperson said, “Jamia is currently providing courses across the board except for medicine. This year we set up a Centre for Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Sciences. A dental clinic has also been functioning for the past two years from the Ansari Health Centre. As there is only one Government-run dental college in the Capital, there has been a pressing need for another such facility.”
