Internet filters plans not going well with Google & Yahoo!

Internet filters plans not going well with Google & Yahoo!Australia's internet filter plans took a setback when Google and Yahoo raised doubts over planned net filters. Both the companies have joined hands with two Australian organizations, Australian Library and Information Association and the Inspire Foundation and are considering the issue all over again.

Earlier plans to block all RC (Refused Classification) content were announced by the government of Australia. The filter was supposed to be a compulsory one. Real child sex abuse images are majorly sold on the P2P networks. Google and Yahoo's argument is that the RC content is too wide to be entirely banned. The prime reason being the fact that chat rooms and peer-to-peer networks are very tough to be filtered.

The groups have suggested different ways of protecting children online. Google has already made it clear that it won't remove content from YouTube unless law requires it to. There have already been a large number of groups and discussions regarding this issue. There is an increased need of cyber safety educating and policing to control the majority of offensive online content that may affect children adversely.
