Intel Corporation’s President Renée James to resign

Intel Corporation's President Renée James to resign from the post to seek the position of CEO elsewhere, and CEO Brian Krzanich will take control over the world's largest chipmaker.

Renée sent a letrter to her employees on Thursday mentioning about her resignation, but the letter didn't specified where she is going to join next.

Renée was one among the three main international candidates for the top job two years ago. She was given the president role after she backed Krzanich in a joint pitch to the board.

James, 51, said, "When Brian and I were appointed to our current roles, I knew then that being leader of company was something that I desired as part of my own leadership journey. Now is right time to take that next step".

Her resignation came with some other leadership changes that showed that Krzanich will be taking over the charge of the company and is parting ways with deputies of his predecessor, Paul Otellini.

Arvind Sodhani, president of Intel Capital, after serving for 35 years will retire in January. Wendell Brooks, head of mergers and acquisitions, will become president of Intel Capital.

James served for nearly 28 years with Intel. A person familiar with the matter who asked not to be identified because the matter is private said that she doesn't have a new job presently.

Krzanich even asked her to stay on during a transition period, said the person. She will receive $4 million in severance if she remains through January during the transition, according to a filing.

Peter Crist, chairman of Crist Kolder Associates, an executive recruiter said in a statement that James didn't get a big prize at Intel. He said it is quite easy to move through the market at senior level if one is unfettered.
