India's Exports Register 23.5% Growth In June

The exports of the nation during the month of June this year were calculated at US $ 14664 million. It was 23.5 % higher than the last year's June level, which was US $ 11870 million. If we estimate it in rupee terms, then the exports touched Rs. 62790 crore, which was estimated as 29.7% higher than the value of exports during June, 2007.

The cumulative value of exports for the period April-June, 2008, according to the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, was US $ 42846 million (Rs. 178480 crore) as against US $ 35033 million (Rs 144358) registering a growth of 22.3 % in Dollar terms and 23.6% in rupee terms over the same period last year.

During the month of June this year, India's imports were valued US $ 24452 million recording a growth of 25.9% over the level of imports valued at US $ 19424 million in June, 2007. The imports were increased by 32.2% if we convert it in rupee terms.

There was a growth by 29.7% in dollar terms and 31.1% in rupee terms in the cumulative value of imports for the period of April-June, 2008, which came up to US $ 73275 million (Rs. 305265) as against US $ 56506 million (Rs. 232855) over the same period last year.

Oil imports during the month of June, 2008 were estimated at US $ 9033 million. It was 53.4% higher than oil imports valued at US $ 5890 million in the corresponding period last year. On the other hand, non-oil imports during the month of June this year were calculated at US $ 15420 million, which was 13.9% higher than the non-oil imports of US $ 13534 million during the month of June last year.

US $ 30429 million was the value estimated for the trade deficit for April-June, 2008, which was higher than the deficit at US $ 21473 million during April-June, 2007.
