India's CWG boss Suresh Kalmadi’s time is up

Suresh KalmadiThe Government of India has given Suresh Kalmadi a deadline to quit. He is now the Chairman of Commonwealth Games 2010. The sports ministry has ruled that a person can not be in a post for more than 12 years or beyond the age of 70. Kalmadi is the head of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and national sports federations now.

He has also spent more than 12 years in that position. He has served as the IOA president for 14 years and turned 66 on Saturday. Currently he is working as the chief organizer of the Commonwealth Games to be held in October
2010 in New Delhi. However ministry has allowed Kalmadi and other sports chiefs to complete their current tenures.

But after completion of the Commonwealth Games they have to quit. Kalmadi's current term ends in 2012, but he has to leave before that. Mr. Kalmadi has not comment on such ruling. But the other officials have slammed the Ministry for such move. But Manohar Singh Gill, the Sports Minister has defended the decision to limit sports chief's tenures for the betterment of the sports.
