India signs £700 million jet deal with UK
As a part of the British PM, David Cameron's visit to India, both the countries have signed a Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) Hawk trainer deal. Worth of the deal is £700 million.
The deal was signed by the companies of both the nations. From UK it was BAE Systems while from India the representative was HAL. As per the deal, India will be signing 57 BAE Hawk's.
This will be over the 66 Hawk's that India had purchased earlier. They were in part of the condition of fly-away and were numbered 24. 42 others were built by HAL. Till now, India has purchased 123 hawks from Britain.
The total worth of the business deal between the two is £500 million. The other British company that has major business dealings with India is Rolls-Royce. It is going to be £200 million and will make engines for Hawk.
Guy Griffiths, Group Managing Director International, BAE Systems, and HAL Chairman Ashok Nayak, were signing the deal which was overlooked by David Cameron. BAE Systems Chairman, Dick Olver was also present on the occasion.
