India to Launch INSAT-4CR on Sep 2

INSAT-4CRNew Delhi: India is all set to launch a new communications satellite on September 2. According to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), the launch of India’s latest Communication Satellite - INSAT-4CR has been delayed by a day to September 2 because of the existing weather conditions in Sriharikota.

ISRO said, "INSAT-4CR, which was earlier scheduled to be launched at 1630 hrs on September 1, will now be launched on September 2 at 1621 hrs."

The Space Research Organization told that the 49-meter rocket will be set up at 4.21 p.m. local time from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota on September 2.

INSAT-4CR holds 12 high-power Ku-band transponders intended to supply video picture transmission, direct-to-home television services, and digital satellite news gathering.

The ISRO researchers said that they are more cautious this time to make sure that the vehicle does not meet the same providence of its predecessor, the GSLV-F02. In July 2006, GSLV-F02 drifted away from its pathway and researchers had to destroy it soon after the takeoff.
