Hyundai India unveils Grand i10-based Xcent sedan

Hyundai India unveils Grand i10-based Xcent sedanThe Indian arm of automobile giant Hyundai on Tuesday unveiled its entry-level sedan Hyundai XCent, which will compete with the likes of Maruti's Suzuki DZire and Honda's Amaze.

B S Seo, Managing Director & CEO of Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), said that the Hyundai XCent symbolized the company's commitment to offer high standards of quality to its Indian customers.

Unveiling the car, Seo said, "The Xcent is a world-class product developed for the Indian market... It symbolises Hyundai's commitment to Indian customers by offering high standards of quality."

Based on the Grand i10 platform, the Xcent will be available in petrol and diesel engine options, and have an automatic-transmission option.

The new car, whose design follows Hyundai's 'Fluidic' design philosophy, boasts several segment-first features, such as rear smart key, one-touch electric boot opening, AC vents, rear parking camera, alloy wheels, and auto folding mirrors.

The Xcent will qualify for the excise duty incentive being offered by Indian government to small cars. Cars with petrol engine capacity of up to 1,200cc (or diesel engine capacity of not exceeding 1,500cc) and length less than four metres have to pay excise duty of 12 per cent. Biggers cars have to pay bigger excise duty. The Hyundai Xcent is the company's fourth sedan offering in India, after Elantra, Sonata and Verna.
