Hyundai Genesis Coupe launched in South Korea and United States
Seoul - Hyundai is launching its new Genesis Coupe on the South Korean and U. S. markets based on the sedan with a range-topping 223 kW/303 hp V6 engine and other sport credentials.
The wedge-shaped design combines a lengthy hood with a short rear. The angular head and taillights give it a low aggressive look. The entry level Genesis Coupe is powered by a four cylinder that accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds, slower than the V6 which propels in 6.3 seconds. Both engines are fitted with a piston oil cooling jet under each cylinder that improves cooling and fuel efficiency, according to the car maker.
Fuel consumption figures have not been released. Hyundai chose rear-wheel drive when giving the car a more sporty handling. As a option a front tower strut bar is available for more body rigidity during cornering. Another option is high performance disc brakes as part of the track performance package.
Dual MacPherson struts are fitted to the front. The Limited Slip Differential features a torque sensor for an improved ride on all road conditions. Prices have not been released but the V6 is expected to sell in the US at around 26,000 dollars.
Hyundai has however not yet decided whether to make the car available in Europe. (dpa)
