Huawei bags contract from BSNL for providing Mobile Instruments
State-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has notified that it has placed a purchase order to Huawei Technologies regarding mobile instruments for 2 crore GSM lines in the southern region.

Under the first round, Huawei has been given an order for 80 lakh 2G lines in the south zone. However in the northern zone, BSNL would awarded a contract of 2.5 crore lines, while in the eastern region, the order would for 1.8 crore lines.

Apart from latest development, BSNL is reported in talks with Ericsson for the north and east zone.

Answering to a query, Mr. Kuldeep Goyal, Chairman, BSNL said, “We are in advance stages of discussions with Ericsson and we hope to finalize it soon.”

Recently, BSNL has launched a per-second billing plan for prepaid subscribers. Under which, subscriber will be able to dial local-cum-STD calls at 1 paisa per second within the BSNL network. However 1.20 paisa per second would be charged for calling outside its network.

To enjoy the latest service, the prepaid users have to recharge with Rs 45 voucher.
