HTC delays launch of two smartphones in the US

HTC delays launch of two smartphones in the USTaiwan's HTC Corp has said that it is delaying the launch of tow of its smartphones in the US market as it requires a customs review as it lost a a patent lawsuit against Apple in the previous year.

The delay is likely to further affect the sales of the company, which is already seeing a fall in the country. Apple had won a court battle against the company in a patent lawsuit in December over technology in the smartphones. This required the company to get customs review before it launched the handsets in the Us market.

The court ruling had banned the sale of HTC phones with the technology covered by the lawsuit from 19 April. The company said that it has found a way to market the device but pointed out that it requires a custo clearance before the goods can be sold in the country.

"The U. S. availability of the HTC One X and HTC EVO 4G LTE has been delayed due to a standard U. S. Customs review of shipments that is required after an ITC (International Trade Commission) exclusion order," the company said in a statement.

The company also pointed out that some shipments arrived in the US before the banning date and thus will be launched while others will be delayed.

The shares of the company fell 4.3 percent on Wednesday.
