HP files Claim against Lynch and Sushovan Hussain
Hewlett-Packard Co has filed a claim against Michael Lynch and a former colleague in London for damages of around 5.1 billion. HP has filed a claim over the management of Autonomy, a company that HP bought in 2011.
Lynch is not going to stay quiet, as it will counter sue and will seek in excess 100 million pounds for the loss and damage that HP's claim has caused. On March 30, HP filed a Claim Form against Michael Lynch and Sushovan Hussain in London's Chancery Division High Court. It has alleged that both of them had engaged in fraudulent activities while they were executives at Autonomy.
"The lawsuit seeks damages from them of approximately $5.1bn. HP will not comment further until the proceedings have been served on the defendants", affirmed HP. As mentioned above, Lynch did not take much time to respond to allegations.
The press team of Lynch's new venture, Invoke Capital, stated that the former management of Autonomy has decided to file claims against HP for the loss it has caused through negligent statements made on November 20, 2012 and also in the HP's smear campaign.
HP has alleged that when it agreed to purchase Autonomy in 2011 for $11bn, it did at an increased price owing to financial mismanagement. A year later, HP wrote down the value of Autonomy by $9.9bn. The HP said that $5bn of the amount was due to the alleged accounting improprieties at Autonomy.
But the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) conducted an investigation into HP's purchase of Autonomy and did not found something particular wrong about the deal. The SFO said that considering some parts of the allegations and on the basis of the available information, it can be said that there is not proper evidence for conviction.
