Hetero Drugs, leading manufacturer of active pharmaceutical ingredients and finished dosage forms, has secured an order worth Rs 40-crore from Union Government.

Under the contract, the pharmaceutical firm will supply 10 million capsules of Fluvir, and 4 lakh bottles of pediatric suspension to Indian Government.

According to a company official, the firm has already dispatched 9 million capsules and balance 1 million would be supplied by August 24.

However, the pediatric doses are schedule to be delivered by the month-end.

Fluvir is the brand name of generic oseltamavir manufactured and marketed by Hetero Drugs. It is produced under the sub licence from Roche and popularly known across the world as Tamiflu.

The drug is known to be effective against Avian flu popularly known as bird flu. Now it has also been indicated aganist swine flu.
