Hero MotoCorp workers threaten to go strike over wage issue

Hero MotoCorp workers threaten to go strike over wage issueHero MotoCorp Workers Union (HMCWU) on Tuesday warned they would go to any extent, including strike, if the management did not agree to their demands.

The workers' union has been demanding a three-fold increase in their monthly wages. HMCWU president Kanwalpreet Singh said that they had been requesting the management to settle the wage management issue for the last six months, but the management had failed to settle the issue.

Speaking on the topic, the union president stressed, "We have a crucial meeting with the management tomorrow and we want them to know that we can go to any extent for our right."

However, he also added that strike would be the last resort and an option under a very compelling situation.

Currently, the workers are getting Rs 6,500 per month, and the union has been demanding an increase in monthly wages of up to Rs 18,000 over a next three years.

However, the president assured that they would keep on working without affecting production but warned that the management must not try to test their patience.

HMCWU has full support from union officials of Maruti's Gurgaon plant, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, Satyam Auto and Rico Auto on the issue. Announcing support to Hero workers, Maruti Udyog Kamgar Union president Kuldeep Janghu assured that they were with HMCWU and trying to facilitate a friendly solution.
