London, Sep 18: Dame Helen Mirren’s lucky charm – her "stripper's shoes" – has paid off by getting her an Emmy for the second consecutive year.

The British actress, who won the award last year as well, scooped an Emmy for the best actress in a TV miniseries or movie for ‘Prime Suspect: The Final Act’, and in the same pair of shoes.

The actress bought the Perspex six-inch high stilettos in frenzy hours before last year's ceremony after realising that she had forgotten her high heels.

This year, Mirren had firmly decided to wear the shoes, in order to achieve the same rewarding results.

The actress wore them under a plunging purple satin floor length gown on Sep 16, to accept the award for best actress for her role as Detective Superintendent Jane Tennison in Prime Suspect: The Final Act.

"It has been an incredible year, from about this time last year through to the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards. It was a pretty amazing year to have later in one's life. It's very gratifying,” the daily Mail quoted her, as saying.

Comic Ricky Gervais picked up a surprise award as best actor in a comedy for TV series Extras, beating stiff competition from favourites Alec Baldwin and Charlie Sheen.

The other winners included the veteran singer Tony Bennett who won the award for best performance on a variety show, and the former vice-president Al Gore picked up an Emmy for his interactive TV channel that shows videos made by viewers. (With Inputs from ANI)
