HCL introduces its first ultrasmart ME ultrabook in IndiaHCL Infosystems has announced the launch of its first Ultrasmart ME Ultrabook for the Indian market called the HCL Ultrasmart ME Series 3074.

The HCL Ultrasmart ME Series 3074 features a metal casing and a 14-inch LED-backlit display that offers a resolution of 1,366 by 768 pixels. It is less than 18mm in thickness and 1.7kg in weight.

The machine comes equipped Intel's third-generation HM77 chipset, Intel HD 4000 graphics, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 2x2W stereo speakers, a 1.3-megapixel VGA webcam, four-in-one memory card reader, a built-in multi-gesture touchpad, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Ethernet, USB 3.0 connectivity, and HDMI port.

In addition, HCL is offering the ultrabook with free Intel Anti-Theft Service for ninty days.

Mr. Princy Bhatnagar, head of consumer computing at HCL Infosystems, said, "With the launch of our Ultrabook we are continuing our tradition of being a manufacturer of innovative computing devices and give our customers faster, more powerful and smarter machines."

Only time will tell how well the HCL Ultrasmart ME Series 3074 will do in the Indian market because rival machines like the Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3, the Toshiba Satellite U840, the HP Envy 4-1002TX, and the Sony Vaio T11 - all of which offer better specifications for the same price - are already available in the market.

The basic version of the HCL Ultrasmart ME Series 3074 has been priced at Rs. 51,990, while hybrid drive version and 128GB SSD version cost Rs. 52,990 and Rs. 54,990 respectively.
