HCC and Alstom Sign a Contract Worth Rs 1,843 crore

HCC and Alstom Sign a Contract Worth Rs 1,843 croreA contract of Rs 1,843 crore has been signed between Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) and Alstom from THDC India Ltd (THDCIL), for the construction of Tehri Pumped Storage Plant (TMSP) in Tehri, Uttarakhand.

TMSP covers four pump turbine units which are of 250 MW each and once it completes, further 1,000 MW capacities will be provided to the Northern area.

The company stated, "This is an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract wherein HCC's share is Rs 701 crore. The project is to be completed in 54 months". The main work to be done is the construction of underground powerhouse, bus bar gallery, head race tunnel, surge shaft, tail race tunnel and penstocks.

TMSP’s procedure is centered on the recycling of water discharged between upper reservoir and lower reservoir. The Koteshwar reservoir will operate as a lower paired reservoir and the Tehri dam reservoir will operate as the upper reservoir.

"This is an engineering, procurement and construction contract wherein HCC's share is Rs. 701 crore”, said the company in a statement. The tenure of the project is 54 months.

After the signing of the contract, the shares of the company had gone up by 2.20% at Rs. 30.25, according to the Bombay Stock Exchange trading.

HCC has constructed more than 25% of the hydel power generation capacity all over India.
