Hayden Pondering His Future In Tests

Hayden Pondering His Future In Tests Aussie opening batsman Matthew Hayden, who is just one match away from his 100th Test, has verified that his participation in the Ashes cricket tour next year would depend on the ongoing Test against New Zealand at Gabba.

Speaking with the media persons, Hayden said, “I reckon there is a chance of that always. When you get to my age, you get to a point where the next 12 months is a long, long way away. But having said that, I have been really process-driven right the way through my career.”

"It's all been about how I was going to present myself for this Test match and whether I was in good shape to play. I feel like both of those are crossed off. Both (wife) Kellie and I have really kept it as simple as that," added the left handed batsman.

The 37-year-old Hayden, who had recurring injuries and a poor start to the four-Test series in India, had critics questioning his future in Australian top-order. Scoring more than 8000 runs in Test cricket, the left-handed batsman could manage only 234 runs in four Tests against India at an average of 33.42.
